Initial Research
In this term, for the project I had gone through brief description on four themes which were "Expressionism"," Earthly Delights", "Bauhaus" and" Mixed Media Arts". At the first time, I decided to choose" Earthly Delights" theme as I always focus on eco friendly architecture which often focus on sustainability. Furthermore, "Earthly Delight" theme defines as the usage of sustainable, recyclable, local and natural elements in Architecture. Then ,during the initial ideas generation and ideas development session, I developed my ideas and planned a "Eco villa" near the Mirissa Beach in Sri Lanka.
What came to my mind when I was planning an "Eco Villa" was "Negah Villa" which the typology was residential and tourist complex. Negah Villa is located in Mazandaran in Iran. Mohammadreza Norouz was the principal architect who was based on Norouz Design Architecture Studio. The site area was 2200m2 and built area is 350m2. The initial idea behind this built was to create a integration between between indoor and outdoor. The name "Negah" can be translated as "the view". This house has such good view as it was built in a sanctuary. This architectural building is covered with green spaces. This highlights the beauty of the combination of the indoor and outdoor construction. Moreover, the usage of glasses and the balance of the house catched my mind. However, this masterpice gave me many ideas to work on my project such as the the balance between the nature and the built and balance between the indoor and the outdoor.
(Alvarez, 2025)When, I was researching on this theme and after the initial idea generations secondly ,what came to my mind was "Tropical Modernism" architectural style which is highly utilized in tropical countries. However, when it is about the "Tropical Modernism " architectural style "Geoffrey Bawa" is often discussed as he is one of the pioneer of this architectural style. Geoffery Manning Bawa was a Sri Lankan architect who was inspired by Italian architecture and end up being one of the global recognised architect. Among his masterpieces "Jayawardene House" in Mirissa which was his last project.

The last sentence is not enough to link this research to your project - it would be a good idea to discuss your ideas in relation to each piece of research in each paragraph. The reason we do research is to find inspiration and look at ways other designers use similar locations or materials or how they use space so we can apply them to our work. You can go back and edit this in your study time.
