Research on materials and sustainability 2 ( watercolour wallpaper/ wall murals for the exterior)
In this post, I am going to research on watercolour wallpaper for exterior as I am going to use it for the exterior of the creche.
Wallpapers are used as a material as a substitute of painting. Interior wallpapers are very common for the decoration but the exterior wallpaper or wall murals are very rare due its difficulty. Regular wallpapers are not suitable for the exterior as they are not resistant for the water, air and durability. When they are exposed to humidity , environmental impacts they wear of rapidly and their colours are drained off. Therefore, the wallpapers which are suitable for the exterior poses few characteristics such as waterproof, resistance for weather, dirt particles and gas emission. Furthermore, this wallpapers consists robust glass fibre structure combined with solid resin coating (Baumann, 2023).
Moreover, these wallpapers can be used in any scale on any surface such concrete, bricks and thermal insulation seals. And also it can ensure the further strength of the exterior and it is an extra advantage. In addition, these wallpapers are very maintainable which can be washable, non deformable, and water repellent. I got inspired from this research and I decided to utilize this wallpaper or wall murals as I thought it would work on the creche. For the exterior of the creche, I can use this wallpaper with watercolour appearance. The below sketch would showcase how I will use this wallpaper and how will it look like. I am looking forward to use this wallpaper with a colour mixture or batik style. Therefore, it will affect on children's psychology and how it will affect on the way they think.
