The Ecole Maternelle Pajol
The Ecole Maternelle Pajol kindergarton school in Paris, France is designed by Palatre et Leclere architecture firm. This building is a 1940s building and later renovated by Palatre et Leclere architecture firm or oliver palatre architects (Architectuul, 2025). One of the speciality of this building is the structure is still remains according to its historic roots while the exterior and interior surfaces are developed and designed by the architects. Apart from that, they have focussed on the Sensory Architecture to provide a stimulating and positive environment. For Example, The Oliver Architects has mainly focussed on the colour spectrum as one of the sensory architecture principles which is used not only on the building but also on the exterior floor (Architectuul, 2025).Therefore, I got instantly attracted and inspired by this kindergarten because of its usage of colour palate.
Moreover, this kindergarten poses geometrical forms , heterogenous materials and colourful colour pallet. "The color spectrum brings life to the walls and even ground of the school" (Architectuul, 2025). Here, the architects have used the rainbow colour pallet with a range of colourful colours.
The rainbow colour pallet is the main focus as well as the propulsion of the project. As a result it fascinates and give a optimistic sense to the children. Furthermore, the doors of the classrooms are same with the floor and the walls are in white colours. They have done this because the colour language is the first language that children learn. Therefore, colour psychology is important to approaching to hues that affect people's intellectual and emotional responses (archellocom).
In addition, this building is very important as an inspiration for my project because of its usage of colour spectrum and the sensory architecture. Therefore, I am looking forward to usage this method of using the colour spectrum in the pre school creche in order to give a visual as well as functional purposes. However, I have already utilised this colour pallet effect in my prototype as an experiment . The below image showcase how I used it in my project. However, I am looking forward to utilise this sensory architectural principal in my future developed outcomes.

ReplyDeleteCould you explain more about how they have used sensory elements in this design - I am not sure you understand as its not very clear here.
