Focus Group Preparation ( Prototype)

● Does it work?

My first protype is a single floor designed building which is in curvilinear architectural design. It posses mostly circular shapes and forms which was my aim to design according to it. I believe this design would work since I mostly focussed on sensory design principles which would suit for children. Therefore, I believe this design would work. The second design is two floor designed building with large windows and in rectilinear architectural design. Even though this design does not have a unique design, it posses an architectural design which attracts children and suitable for them. Moreover, my third design is designed as a unique design since I used 3d box structural view as the inspiration. I mixed circular and box like structure for this building. I drew this design but I did not make the prototype yet. However, I believe that this design would work too.  

● Does it look as you hoped?

Yes,  both of the first designs came according to my imagination and visualization. For example, the windows, skylights and the shape. Since , I did not start making the last prototype I am looking forward to make the prototype according to my sketches. 

● Is the design working as a whole?

Yes, all the designs are working as a whole. Not only visually but also functionally the designs are  working. But I am looking forward to improve them and develop them in order to create better outcomes.

● What was the process of making the design?

For the designs, I generated few images with DeepAi and I got inspirations from them. Then, I combined those designs with my ideas and I generated  new ideas. Step by step I developed these designs after finding and solving the problems. At the end, I created the prototypes as well.

● How long did it take? (This should give you an indication of how long your final design will take and

a better idea of what you can achieve in the timescale)

I am thinking that, it will take around one week for the finalization, and experimentation of  the finalized design. Furthermore, I will develop the final design by experimenting and practising for two weeks and then, I will start to create my final outcomes such as 2d and 3d outcomes from the week six and seven.  

● What materials/equipment will you need?

For the prototype process of the finalized design I will use mountboard or foam board with other materials. For now, I believe that it could be changed according to the finalized design but I am looking forward to use mountboard and acetate as materials. As for equipment I will need cutting mat, craft knife and scissors

● Have you sourced this?

Yes, until now for the development process, I used DeepAi as the source for generating of inspirational images. Moreover, I will use more sources in the future when I will research for the final developed design.

● What will it cost?

This pre school creche which is located in DMU University will cost around 100,000 pounds in the uk.

● Which design do you like best?

From all the designs, I prefer the building that I designed as a semi circle structure building which is  in curvilinear architectural style because it is a unique style as well as it is safe for the children since it is a one floor building. Not only that but also the exterior of the design, it attracts kids. 

● What would improve it?

 I am looking forward to improve the design after doing more researches. I would like develop the play ground area and how can I connect it to the building as well hire being concerned with safety measurements. Moreover, I'll further do more researches and will improve the design concerning more sensory design principles for children.
