Woodwork / 3d printing Induction workshop

During this week, I have gone through two induction workshops which were woodwork and 3d printing. During these workshops , I learned about wood work activities and 3d printing activities .

First, in 3d printing induction workshop, I have gone through a brief introduction and tour around the room. I learned that 3d printing is very useful for me as an architect student in 3d modeling. Moreover, the instructor gave us description the usages of 3d printing such as 3d modeling for architecture, interior design, product design and fashion design and showed us few examples. Furthermore, we have gone around the room with brief description of every machines. I learned how they work and how them impact on different activities. Moreover, it takes different time periods to complete different tasks. For example, it takes 2 or 3 days complete some tasks. Thus, I leaned how 3d printing is important for my subject.

In the second induction, which was woodwork workshop, I learned about a few woodwork activities and I learned how to handle few machines too. First, I have gone through some instructions and a brief description about the machines. Then, I had to draw a shape on a piece of wood  with measurements.

Then, I had to create the exact shape as the outcome after using few machines. First, I cut down all the edges of the wood piece. Then, I shaped the edges with curvy edges with another machine. Later, I started to create the hole with another machine. At last , I used another machine to cut the shape which is the inside shape. In order to get smooth edges I used sand  papers and some hand tools. However, this task was quiet challenging since it was the first time yet interesting. This workshop interesting and it is also helpful for me as an architect student. For example, I can use these machines for 3d model making.

However, all these workshops were important as an architect student in order to learn and understand how to make 3d models with different materials.

  1. Would be good to see you identify how you might use the workshops for specific parts of your 3D project outcome - one sentence at the end of the post is not enough.
