Artist Research ( Samanta Cafardo and Diana Radomysler )

" Jungle house " is located on the Paulista shore about a two hour drive from Sao Paulo , in the region of the rain forest which is covered with mountainous topography with dense vegetation. The main architects who worked on this project were "Samanta Cafardo", "Diana Radomysler". (ArchDaily, 2016b)

“They also wanted a nice social space to gather friends and family,” says Studio mk27’s project manager Samanta Cafardo".(Ly, 2016) According to the request of the client, Samanta Cafardo and Diana Radomysler decided to create a connection between the house and the nature. Their idea was to insert the house in to the environment of mountainous vegetation with a sea view. Moreover, they tried to find a suitable place in Brazil after considering the Brazilian environmental protection laws which led them to find a place of mountainous slope. However, the house is built with three floors which are  divided by wooden decks and the through a staircase the first floor is opened with six bedrooms and five of each bedrooms have verandas. The roof system is mostly covered with sauna and the water pool.
                                                                      (Mairs, 2016)

“I believe that it is fundamental for an architect to be connected with everything around them,” adds Kogan", According to Kogan , it is mentioned that , one side of the jungle house faces towards the ocean while the back side faces towards the dense vegetation area of jungle. Therefore, it is clearly visible that how Samanta and Diana managed to connect the architecture with the nature. Apart from this fact, Samanta and Diana managed to find out a way for the family to disconnect from the city life and enjoy their companies. Moreover, they managed to keep the balance between the indoor as well as the outdoor architecture. It is vividly visible through the design of the roof floor which includes the swimming pool and the social area. Specifically, the last floor is an good example because one side there is a deck which has hot tub and sauna and on the other side there is a ground fireplace and also the middle of these parts is the living room which is open for the both sides. (ArchDaily, 2016c).  Thus, these two architects did a great work in order to satisfy their clients request through their architectural skills. This Jungle house caught my attention at first sight due to its uniqueness and also its balance between the architecture and nature. Therefore, I mostly get inspired by the fact that how the house is connected with the nature and have two picturesque natural views such as the jungle and the beach.

  1. This post could benefit from more linking from your project to the research - its clear in terms of your theme and idea behind your project why you have included it but you need to state that more clearly.
